Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing how IT professionals analyze information and solve problems. In this session, we'll explore what Agentic AI is, how it differs from traditional generative AI approaches, and where it may help support IMS troubleshooting and operational decision-making. We'll discuss practical examples of how AI technologies can assist with problem investigation, knowledge discovery, and issue resolution, while examining the opportunities and limitations of applying these emerging capabilities in IMS environments. Attendees will gain a better understanding of AI concepts, their relevance to IMS operations, and where AI may provide value in future problem-solving workflows.

John O'Dowd has over 40 years of experience in z/OS mainframe environments. He spent his first 25 years at BMC Software as a product developer. He is currently a Principal Product Manager for BMC Software and is the Product Manager for the IMS Product Suite. John enjoys learning new technologies, developing new products, and mentoring the next generation of developers. He lives and works in Houston, Texas.
