Configuration as code is a foundational principle of modern software engineering — and YAML has become the lingua franca for expressing those configurations across virtually every platform. What started as a convention in cloud-native development is now making meaningful inroads into traditional mainframe software development, bringing the same benefits of readability, version control, and automation. This session explores how YAML-based configurations drive end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for mainframe applications — from configuring builds to controlling compiler options, deployment rules, and packaging steps. We'll also look at how your IDE can be configured as code, keeping developer environments consistent and reproducible. Beyond configuration, AI assistants are emerging as a practical accelerator for engineering teams — helping to author, validate, and evolve build, deploy, and pipeline configurations with greater speed and confidence, that we will see in action during the demonstration.
