Presentation

Testing workloads that run across CICS and z/OS is hard: the systems are deeply interconnected, and traditional stubbing and mocking rarely reflect how they really behave. Galasa, an open-source deep integration testing framework, lets teams write repeatable, automated tests that exercise applications end to end, against real 3270 terminals, batch jobs, Db2, and REST APIs, without mocking the mainframe. This session shows how NatWest and IBM have worked together to structure Galasa tests for CICS at scale. We'll cover how tests are organised and shared across brands and environments, the use of Galasa managers to drive online CICS transactions, batch jobs, and Db2 data validation, and the patterns that keep tests portable, parallelisable, and maintainable. We'll also look at how this test structure fits alongside our CICS Liberty and Java automation work, giving teams confidence to deliver both online and batch changes faster on z/OS.
