Presentation

Getting AI-assisted development up and running is only the first step. To deliver real value in enterprise environments, AI agents must understand and follow the development processes, standards, and best practices that make your organization successful. Every enterprise has its own coding standards, review requirements, build procedures, testing strategies, deployment pipelines, and governance policies. Out-of-the-box AI tools have no knowledge of these processes. To become effective members of the development team, AI agents need guidance, context, and access to the right tools. In this session, we'll explore the building blocks for creating enterprise-ready AI development workflows on z/OS. You'll learn how technologies such as MCP tools, Skills, agents.md, custom modes, and slash commands can be used to extend AI assistants with organizational knowledge and automate common development activities. Through practical end-to-end examples, we'll demonstrate how to guide AI agents to enforce coding standards, perform code scanning and refactoring tasks, execute builds and tests, support deployment workflows, and help developers follow established engineering practices. You'll see how these capabilities can transform a general-purpose AI assistant into a development partner tailored to your organization's unique requirements.
