Following high demand from previous attendees, this session is now expanded into a two-part series. In Part 1, we share essential techniques for maximizing efficiency in a mainframe environment, blending 39 years of veteran expertise with modern insights for those newer to the platform. Attendees will learn resource navigation shortcuts, ISPF editor optimization techniques, and time-saving command-line shortcuts. (Topics covered will include useful commands and shortcuts, tips for TSO like jumping and stringing commands, creation of ISPF macros and REXX Execs, the basics of Unix/USS/OMVS, and using Visual Studio Code to simplify accessing mainframe files. Some examples include SRCHFOR, M [member], SORT MESSAGE, RESET, CUT/PASTE, etc...)

I am a dedicated mainframer currently working on supporting large-scale migrations and conversions to Broadcom's automation product: OPS/MVS. I help organizations seamlessly adopt and integrate advanced mainframe automation solutions. I collaborate closely with clients, tackling unique challenges and developing strategic adoption roadmaps tailored to their needs. I grew up in New York and now live in San Diego, California, blending East Coast determination with West Coast creativity. Over the course of my career, I've held roles as a Db2 Database Administrator and Storage and System Support Engineer, which provided me with a strong technical foundation and deep understanding of enterprise-level systems. I'm passionate about mainframe education and mentoring, sharing knowledge with the community, and speaking at conferences to inspire others about the future of mainframe technology. I believe in continuous learning and enjoy connecting with industry professionals to drive innovation and growth.
