Guardian of the mainframe - The power of RACF

(AE)

Stream: Suzuka
Time: 10:00 - 10:45

Presentation

When I first started learning about mainframe security, RACF was one of the first concepts I encountered. Like many beginners, I heard terms such as users, groups, profiles, and access levels long before I understood how they all fit together. Over time, I gained a deeper understanding of RACF and discovered that it is the foundation of securing the mainframe. In this beginner-friendly session, you'll learn the fundamentals of RACF (Resource Access Control Facility), including users, groups, profiles, and RACF access levels, and how they work together to protect critical systems and data. We'll also introduce IBM zSecure, explain how it complements RACF, and demonstrate the difference between using traditional RACF panels and zSecure for security administration. With clear explanations, practical examples, this session is designed for students, graduates, and anyone new to mainframe security. Whether you're just starting your journey or looking to build a stronger foundation, you'll leave with a better understanding of RACF and zSecure.
