Managing data, including backup, is part of our normal day to day tasks. I want to share our daily experience for faster application backups using dataset FlashCopy, reducing number of volumes/ucb leveraging thin provisioning, and moving data with HSM MOVE. Additionally I'll provide some quick, and not so dirty, self-written REXX that we use for reporting

After completing an IT apprenticeship, he started out as an assembler developer and switched to storage management in 1989. Since then, he has been involved in many key areas related to backup, recovery, and storage management.
