Introduction to Linux on z/VM Performance Analysis

(MG)

Stream: Hockenheim
Time: 12:15 - 13:00

Presentation

Analyzing performance problems is usually not fun if you have 10 managers looking over your back and your users are complaining. Learning a strategy and following a straight forward flowchart to solve your performance problems BEFORE you have a problem is not a bad idea. This presentation will show a strategy, and a flow chart to analyze Linux on z/VM performance problems using that strategy.

  • Barton Robinson at Velocity Software
  • Barton Robinson is the founder and CTO of Velocity Software. After leaving IBM, where he served as a Senior Manager in the IBM Performance Evaluation Lab, Barton founded Velocity Software to develop performance management solutions for z/VM (then VM/XA). For nearly four decades, Barton has guided the Velocity Software team in performance research and creating an architecural foundation for products designed to stand the test of time. At Velocity Software, collaboration with users allows us to tackle projects that may not have immediate financial justification but hold significant importance. For example, developing a fast web server for z/VM and a TCP/IP network monitor for z/VM were challenging to justify initially, but today, these solutions support banks and government agencies worldwide.
