Why do we still need VTAM?

(LK)

Stream: Stowe
Time: 16:30 - 17:15

Presentation

VTAM is still a mandatory component of z/OS systems, but why? Mainframe networking uses TCPIP, SNA is dead. Isn't it? This is an intermediate session on the historical background of VTAM, why it is still required in 2026 and where there are still some common security issues that should be addressed.
