Most housekeeping was designed and implemented many years ago. This session is a reminder that your companies’ policies need regular reviewing. We will look at selective RUNSTATS including a high-level view on how to set them up and the importance of cleaning up old or stale statistics. I will also highlight what the latest reorg selection criteria recommendations are. My session will also suggest people review their Copy policies with an eye on recovery times and application usage.

Alan is a Consultant at Triton Consulting, a UK based company that specializes in Hybrid Data Management, Digital Transformation and DB2 database and Information Management services for the z/OS and Midrange platforms. His area of expertise is the Mainframe platform. He started working as a DB2 DBA in 1996 has been active as a DBA since then, including 14 years as a DBA for a major bank in the UK. Alan also worked for IBM as a DBA on their internal SAP systems before working in technical pre and post sales for IBM DB2 Tools. Throughout his DBA career, he has been engaged on many different projects and aspects of DB administration, ranging from day-to-day DB maintenance, SQL tuning, performance optimizations and backup/recovery solutions including Disaster Recovery.
