Nobody doubts the role AI does and will play in helping IT staff make informed decisions when monitoring and tuning applications and systems they run on. While accepting the inevitable, this experienced Db2 for z/OS practitioner and educator believes that it is still important for staff to gain an understanding of the basic concepts which underlie the subject. The presentation will introduce the audience to the world of Db2 monitoring and tuning, and will focus on how to relate the key metrics to the general areas of throughput, response time and efficient use of CPU resources. With this knowledge, participants will be better placed to face the hundreds of trace records Db2 can produce.
