Automation is powerful—until the wrong automation keeps running, touches the wrong resource, or becomes impossible to explain during an incident. This session shows how beginning and intermediate OPS/MVS users can think about automation safety using newer OPS/MVS capabilities such as REST-enabled OPS/REXX execution control, auto-enable visibility, and modern rule management. We will walk through practical patterns for starting, observing, stopping, and recovering automation without turning every problem into a 2 a.m. bridge call. Attendees will see how REST APIs, OPS/REXX, AOF rules, and Zowe-based tooling can create guardrails around automated operations. The goal is not just “more automation,” but automation that has brakes, auditability, and human-friendly recovery points.
