(Our #4 priority session) The next generation of mainframe automation engineers may learn faster in VS Code, APIs, and command lines than in panels alone. This session shows how OPS/MVS can meet them there using OPS/REXX Language Support, Zowe CLI integration, REST APIs, and modern development workflows. We will demonstrate how familiar tooling can help users search OPSLOG records, check rule status, execute OPS/REXX programs, and manage automation without abandoning core z/OS discipline. This is not a “replace the green screen” session; it is about building a bridge between proven operations practices and modern engineering habits. Attendees will leave with a practical starter model for bringing OPS/MVS automation into team configs, repeatable scripts, and safer change workflows.
