(Our #6 Priority Session) A backup is only comforting if you know it is clean, usable, protected, and recoverable fast enough to matter. This session looks at ransomware and cyber-recovery from a mainframe operations perspective, focusing on what teams can do before an attack turns into an enterprise-wide outage. We will cover the difference between backup, recovery, immutability, isolation, validation, and operational rehearsal in plain technical language. Beginning and intermediate attendees will learn how automation can help verify recovery readiness, detect suspicious operational changes, preserve evidence, and coordinate response steps. The session also explores common false confidence traps, such as assuming “we have backups” means “we can recover the business.” Attendees will leave with practical questions they can take back to storage, security, operations, and application teams to strengthen cyber resilience.
